Save Money and Have Fun With Cheap Scrapbooking

My Back Yard
While taking a break from one of my scrapbooks, I went out into the back-yard to get the washing. While I was outside, I wondered whether there had been anything from the yard that I could use for my album. And what I returned with was some great looking leaves and some flowers. I dried these out and included them in a nature section of my scrapbook. The effect was quite enthralling.
Family and Friends
Lots of my girlfriends and some family members have spare rooms in their homes. In them, they store files, stationery, old materials, old toys and plenty of other things that they no longer use. After looking for permission, I rummaged through these rooms and found a treasure-trove of items I could use in my project.
The upside was that everyone was happy for me to take things as they had been meaning to toss them out, so I was doing them a favour.
Hard Rubbish Day
I’m not sure about you, but in my suburb we’ve got a thing called ‘hard rubbish’ day. This is a day when folk take the things that they no longer desire and put them out on the strip of grass in front of their house where the local council can come and take them away.
This is an absolute goldmine for craft-like supplies, I've found ribbons, wrapping paper, old linen, coloured pencils, paper – pretty much anything a scrapbooker might desire. I was in heaven.
So you see, if you sit down and have a bit of a think, you’ll be able to come up with a whole heap of different places to source materials for your scrapbooks.
